Miami Waterkeeper - Kayak Clean-Up (Bird Monitoring)

Join Miami Waterkeeper and Miami EcoAdventures for a kayak-based marine debris cleanup and citizen science bird monitoring event! Volunteers will explore the island by kayak, recording bird observations before helping remove marine debris from the surrounding coastal and mangrove habitats. Kayaks, paddles, PFDs, water, binoculars, and cleanup supplies will be provided. Community service hours are also available.

Join Debris Free Oceans, MORAES, & Earth Breeze for a spook-tacular afternoon at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park! Help tackle plastic pollution with a beach cleanup, explore the park during a guided eco walk, and give your Halloween costumes a second life through a costume swap. Volunteer service hours will be provided, and all ages are welcome!

Join MORAES for our Kickball for a Cause: Coastal Resiliency event at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park! Start the day by helping clean up the beach at 11:00 AM, followed by a historical tour at 12:00 PM and a kickball game at 1:00 PM. Come out to enjoy a fun day with the community while supporting coastal conservation and learning more about the history and environment of Virginia Key.

Surfrider Foundation - Community Dune Restoration

Join Surfrider Miami during Florida Climate Week to help restore Miami Beach's coastal dunes! Volunteers will work together to identify and remove invasive plants, helping prepare the dunes for native plant restoration while strengthening coastal resilience and improving beach health. Participants should bring sunscreen and a reusable water bottle. Gloves, equipment, snacks, and cold water will be provided.

Join MORAES for Give Miami Day and help support our mission of conserving and protecting South Florida’s local marine environment! Your support helps fund important conservation and research projects, including our Virginia Key Sea Turtle Nesting Surveys, Virginia Key Coastal Enhancement Expansion Project, and Safe Hatch Initiative.
From monitoring sea turtle nesting activity and protecting hatchlings to restoring coastal habitat and removing invasive vegetation, every donation helps our staff, interns, and volunteers continue this work in our community. Stop by John Martin’s Irish Pub & Restaurant, enjoy some food and drinks, and support local conservation!
